If you’re looking for help with writing a personal statement - whether for law school or anywhere else - I would love to help you structure your narrative in a way that shows the admissions council who you really are. In the past, I’ve helped clients through the entire process of building a strong essay: all the way from interpreting and choosing the prompts that match your story to laying down the finishing touches the day before they sent it in. I have flexible availability and am easy to reach between sessions.
A typical session looks like this: a day or two before our meeting, you send me whatever you have. That means prompts, ramblings, freewrites, essays, notes others have given you on your essays, anything you want. We spend our time together (usually around two hours) talking about you and your story: what drives you, what separates you, what your real voice sounds like on the page. Our goal isn’t to write a good essay - it’s to write your essay, however that ends up looking. Between meetings, I’ll give you things to work on, if you have time to spare - it might be a paragraph that needs rewriting, a memory that needs journaling, or an article or book or chapter that I think you just need to check out.
My rate is $80/hr. If you’re looking for a longer commitment, been referred to me by a former client, or in a unique financial situation, I’m happy to discuss ways of bringing that rate down. I offer free, 30-minute consultations where we can talk about your needs, schedule, and current progress to get a feel for how I can help you best.
